Saffron Building Society nominated for What Mortgage Award
Saffron Building Society, the regional building society serving the East of England, has been nominated for a top national award.
What Mortgage Magazine has released its annual award nominations, listing Saffron Building Society in contention for Best Regional Building Society. The category is for lenders who have expanded beyond their immediate locality to offer a range of different mortgage products.
The awards are a highly regarded bench-mark for the public and viewed as being completely independent and unbiased.
John Eastgate, Saffron's Sales and Marketing Director said: "We are obviously delighted by the nomination for best Regional Building Society. We have good reason to be proud of our lending record, as not only are our arrears figures the envy of the industry, but our mortgage customers tell us that they are very happy with the service that they receive from our staff at all stages of their mortgage. We also underwrite every mortgage manually using experts in their field, meaning that we don't rely on computer-based credit scoring and can take all aspects of a potential borrower's circumstances into account.
"Our current mortgage range is both varied and competitive, as we recognise that many borrowers are torn between fixing their mortgage or staying on a variable rate and hoping that rates don't increase significantly. We also appreciate that, for those wishing to remortgage, the remortgage fees can be much higher than expected and a deterrent to changing to a new deal. As such, we are currently offering fee-free remortgages* to existing Saffron customers or those looking to remortgage without our branch catchment area.
